5 subjects covered in depth - everything the beginner teacher needs to get started!
Plenty of teaching practise time
Loads of resources
Final assessment and one-to-one feedback with one of our top tutors
Clear progression route
The course is delivered over 12 weeks (plus a 2-week half-term break), allowing time for you to properly digest what you have already learned, embed your learning, and then take part in a live assessment of your skills towards the end of your course.
You will be encouraged to work with your own students throughout the course. If you are new to teaching or you have no existing students, then we would expect you to teach a friend, family member or other willing "guinea pig" so that you get plenty of practise. Remember, this course is all about practical skills - you don't learn to ride a bike by reading about it!
The next intake for this course will be in late Spring / early Summer 2020. We will let you know the second the dates have been confirmed. You can register you interest here.

At the end of each 2-week mini-module, you will be tested via our automated systems. This is really a revision tool, to ensure that you have understood the subject matter properly. It's a great way for you to see how you're doing as you go.
If you don't pass a test first time, don't worry! You will be given 3 attempts at each of the tests, so you can always refresh your memory, embed the learning a bit more, then try again.
We believe that for effective learning, it's best to study a small set of really useful techniques and approaches in detail, rather than skimming the surface of loads of things and ending up confused about how to apply what you've learned. Anyone can learn "facts". This course is about applying what you know.
Session 11 is the live teaching assessment and this is your final test before achieving your qualification. Everyone gets nervous about assessments and we understand that so please don't panic! We will make you feel comfortable and give you all of the encouragement and support that you need. It will all be over before you know it and you'll wonder what you were worried about.
Why do we do this? Because we believe that for a qualification to mean something - to you, to your students and to the world at large - there has to be something at stake. The research also tells us that people learn more effectively and more deeply when there's an end-goal. There's even a Plan B, because if you don't pass your live teaching assessment first time - a rarity, in our experience - you can always book to take it again. N.B. There will be an additional fee for this, just as with re-taking any exam.
In addition to the scheduled webinars and tutorials, you will be able to join your fellow students via the C.A.T.S. Common Room in our unique online campus, to share ideas, discuss difficulties encountered and solutions found, and just to feel part of the wider community! We encourage shared practice and have found that people do better when they feel that they are part of a supportive group.
Once you have passed your course, you will automatically be given the benefit of our "college for life" policy, which means that not only will you retain access to the C.A.T.S. Common Room, but will also gain entry to the main Voice College Common Room, where you will always be able to chat with and ask for advice from other students and alumni, plus the wider Voice College teaching team. Additionally, you will gain access to our exclusive and ever-growing online library.
Each mini-module comes with its own portfolio of resources, so that you don't have to spend your precious time searching for good quality wider reading. We've done the research so that you don't have to!
Access to the C.A.T.S. Common Room on campus where you can chat with other students, either face-to-face or via our Message Board. This is also where you'll find your resource portfolios, and access recordings of previous webinars and clinics.
On passing the course, you automatically benefit from our "College for Life" policy - access to the main college Common Room and our online library.
You don't have to have any teaching experience to apply for this course. However, it is very suitable for those with some experience, who wish to explore and add to their existing skills.
You do need to be able to sing! We will need you to demonstrate your ability before we can accept your application, preferably via youtube / soundcloud /vimeo links or similar, but if you don't have any of those then a simple recording taken on a webcam or mobile device will suffice.
You don't need to have professional singing / performing experience - we understand that there are plenty of great amateur singers in the world!
You do need a good broadband connection, plus a reasonable webcam and mic.
You don't need existing music theory or piano skills, but we strongly recommend that you commit to learning these if you plan to teach singing.
You do need to commit to practising your skills with 'real world' students. (Friends and family are fine for complete beginners).
We are also in the process of developing C.A.T.S. Level 2 and Level 3. These will build directly on the work done in your original C.A.T.S. course, and will be delivered in the same way. We anticipate that C.A.T.S. Level 2 will launched in 2021.
